The Last Poem Of A Poet

The Day He Calls Me Home

Brother To Brother

A Child Unborn

You were the greatest thing in my life to date,
You were subjected to death: that was not your fate.
When you left me to join the greatest vast blue,
My first glimpse of fatherhood went away with you.

I would gladly give anything to bring you back to me,
Just for you to exist, just to simply be.
What joy it would be to see a smile upon your face.
Forever in my heart, there will always be a place.

I would have loved to do the things that fathers do,
To teach you to walk, and to hold you too.
Forgive me if I should shed a tear and cry,
As I say fare-well to you, but never good-bye.
